The Weiss Distribution Technique is a method of breaking clumps in ground coffee by stirring with thin needles. Typically I stir in a figure 8 motion moving around the portafilter, gradually raising until the needles are more or less out of the coffee and then just kind of rake the top to make it nice and neat.
I use this WDT tool. It uses acupuncture needles and three 3D printed parts, the top part and bottom part of the handle screw together holding the acupuncture needles in place and then the handle sits on the stand.
